true. Guess I should have clarified my question. I was just practicing plotting on paper, as navigating Buzzard's Bay, I don't get to practice much. I was using the plotter to confirm my work...

The Coastal navigation courses I have taken just said to put a T or M on your course line to clarify

Don't use routes... makes no sense for sailors. You can program some waypoint to get from here to there... but unless you motor what's the point of using routes? To drive an AP? That seems nuts.

I said I was just practicing on the paper chart. Using the plotter to check the accuracy of my work. Nothing more. I don't always get free time to practice plotting on paper. Just kinda surprised the plotter couldnt plot in magnetic, or convert. Wonder why the plotter wants the local variation.

When I opened this thread 5 years ago, I just plotted a small course on paper and wanted to check it on the plotter..which I couldnt do, and Navico said it couldnt be done. I just thought it was strange.

We haven't finished hitting you over the head with this thread. You must suffer for 5 more years, and have to answer a dozen more silly questions...

A win win technique.. there's some grand bars and coffee house's in Holland..
I Never plan a trip by stops along the way.. never sure how long the beer will last..
All that matters is the Start and the Finish..

A lot of sailors navigate in the Philippines..... using T & A, .....although they do apply TVMDC and the Aussies spell route a bit different
