Yeah, all of this is way over my head. Was using a lot of trial and error until it finally worked. The best I can figure from what I read is that it depends on what version of android you have? Again, over my head, but "copy protected apps" is the issue I was running into. Did you run into it being "copy protected" and somehow get around that without rooting or is your APK file not copy protected or possibly an earlier android version that does not have the "copy protected" issue. I am sure my ignorance is shining through with these questions. Hopefully someone that understands this more than I can respond to help others that had the same problem I did.

It's good to know, since I don't have enough devices to run this test. My phone is rooted and it is the only device I have used for this, not to mention the only Android phone I own.

Wink Re: How to run Navionics on Nexus 7

Hi all,
Just downloaded Europe HD for the nexus 7.
Been playing around with it!
Harbour Photos (aerial) come up after you centre on the photos and click on the blue Question mark.
Nice depth contours.
Did a route, was able to delete last waypoint and all previous one by one, but not slide others around yet?
Depth in Harbours seems to be available also.
Have to dig to see what else is hidden!
Found tides well displayed too!
Was there weather, cannot remember at the 'mo!
Seems to only download the detailed charts you zoom into, leaving a sort of patchwork for the areas you do not require as yet.
Must make sure that Data is not required at sea to acquire the detail small scale charts?
Would AIS overlay be a runner even over WI-Fi from a DMK box or similar?

Re: How to run Navionics on Nexus 7

Funny, I have bought us and caribv for my phone and used the air droid app to get it to my nexus. Now when I look it hip, they want to charge me for the new HD version. The last one I paid for was just fine. I guess when I get my next device, I'll just go ahead and order the HD version.

I have had a version of Navionics on my Samsung Galaxy Note phone that has been just fine. Now on my Nexus 7 I had to purchase the HD version. I am a bit disappointed as I can't see a difference, but other than it cost a whole lot more.

Am I missing something? Are there features I am not seeing?

Was it requiring you to upgrade when you installed it? Were you able to use it in its original state prior to upgrading?

No offer to upgrade. That would have been a bit better.

The non-HD version isn't offered for Jelly Bean devices.

Re: How to run Navionics on Nexus 7

Nexus 7 never had the original navionics we all know. You could get it there with air droid as I did. Later on, navionics came out with an HD version for the nexus that is HD and cost more

Options....buy HD or side load with air droid.
I would have paid again for the app in HD because it is worth it, bit already have it on my nexus, and paid for the reg version on two ACCTS and on the iPad for my wife to play with. When I have to buy the HD version for this nexus or another tablet, I'll just buy the HD version...navionics is the best nav app I have found and I gave downloaded and tested every one that I could test.

Re: How to run Navionics on Nexus 7

As of last friday you can now run Navionics on a nexus7 just like any other APP. It is now on their web site as approved. The HD version is clearer with the satilite overlay on.

Re: How to run Navionics on Nexus 7

I have been looking to see if I can get Navionics for my Nexus 7 for 9 months. This week it shows as available for the Nexus 7 (already used on a Toshiba AT100). It downloaded and installed smoothly. Works well. Seems they finally sorted this out.

Re: How to run Navionics on Nexus 7

Any more opinions or updates on Navionics running on Nexus tablets? I plan to purchase and load it onto our Nexus 10.

Does anyone have a preferred mounting device for these tablets?

Good thread!!!
