How to know to go where and when?

Hi everyone, I'm on a sailboat full-time but I don't have any resources that tell me the best time to go south or north or across the Atlantic etc. Is there a book or app or website that tells you how to get to X and when the best time of year is to get there? Thanks!

Yes, the bibles have been written by Jimmy Cornell for several decades. However, might be just my opinion, but the seasons seem to be changing, could just be my memory.

Re: How to know to go where and when?

no need for books or apps just ask on the forum, and in a short space of time you will have way more information and opinions than you could ever use on where you should go,how you should do it,and even if you should have a boat at all......

i reccomend jimmy cornells "cruising routes of the world" to have as a handy guide onboard, and www.noonsite.com for country reports and other useful info

Re: How to know to go where and when?

I second Jimmy Cornell book. A hoot to plan world travels. Pilot charts can be downloaded free. Cruising seasons generally follow hurricane season so you can look that up for the area you want (don't go during the hurricane season, go sometime else). According to Cornell the best time to head from Portugal to Caribbean is November. From Florida to Bermuda is May and from Bermuda to Europe late May to early July.

Re: How to know to go where and when?

I have an old set of pilot charts and recently went with Jimmy Cornell's version. The difference is that his are based on accurate weather history for the past 20 or 25 years which takes into account the effects of climate change. There are some notable differences and a lot that seems the same.

Doesn't that rather depend on where in the Americas, Europe or Africa the OP is (I'm only assuming those areas based on his reference to "the Atlantic"
