.HDR Charts

Hi guys, I have been given a disk with charts on for UK waters and the charts are in a folder called HDR.

The file is in a Rar file and when extracted extrapolates into many folders, some containint .HDR files and some containing .A01, .A02 etc

Ive checked online for this format and it seems to relate to a Raster image format, but i cant seem to find a program to accept the maps. ive tried OenCPN which does not seem to accept them (just get the uk outline as apposed to filled in maps)

Does anyone have any input into these formats as i would love to get them working for my fathers boat.

Thanks nigel, thats fantastic. ive loaded the software but im unable to get them to work. when loading the .hdr file into the shoftware it says that it is unable to access the maptech DLL.

I "think" it could be a problem with the Trial version of the software. Im wondering if any other software can read these files

Actually ive found the DLL files on the explorer site lol.

Whats the best software for use in inshore fishing? looking to see if i can convert the maps to the easiest to use format for my dad

Yes, NavPak Pro and Lite editions will read these. You can view them using the free demo versions.

Or, if you want to use them in pretty much any nav program in exchange for investing some time, start at Chart Formats | Official OpenCPN Homepage and follow the links to instructions on how to convert them to KAPs
