Google Earth KAP Large Area Hi Res Charts

I just discovered that the last test version V22.0.0.13 creates inaccurate quilted charts they are badly off in latitude. So do not use them for navigation and don't throw any your old unquilted charts.

OK we have a new version that fixes a few problem the most serious being the inaccurate charts when use crop GE. See the Changelog for the rest.

Also, for those of you that have existing sets of un-quilted charts I have a wrote a utility program that will quilt them. See the Help Quilting section for details. Get the new test version here:

Just uploaded what I hope is last test version for the new quilt function. Using the Quilt_Charts utility I was able to take my libarary of charts for the western Caribbean and reduce the number of charts from 4650 to 289.

Well looks like we still have some issues so I have uploaded a new version of GE2KAP. See the Changelog for details
Good new is we have two two new translators, Deva for Portuguese and Hans for German.

SteelCat.. Yes,quite interesting program... Great for browsing .kap maps.

How do you scale the views?? My mouse wheel does not function. Perhaps another way?

Have you tried the French NoniMap ?? Based on Google Earth,Yahoo,Open Street Map and Virtual Earth. You can outline the area you want and then set the zoom you require,before it saves the outsize map in .jpg and .Map format, ideal for use with GE2Kap to produce an out-size .kap map.

Note. Many map types did not work with TerraIncognita.

The newest version of GE2KAP is now available that supports large scale charts of any area or path using its quilting feature. You can get from my the Downloads page of my website Sample

Sinbad8 - after you select the area required use "zoom levels" to change scale

i have not tried the French NoniMap

The main advantage is for google earth current data and bing and it is very quick to produce a kap chart

SteelCat.. TerraIncognita is a great program and easy to use. Also insert waypoints and routes from OpenCPN works well. It´ll be fun to see what else they will include in future versions.

I would still like to know why if I make a chart using Terincognita at 2km for a large area (about 10nm) its blurry and the scale is 1:99374. But if I make a chart using Ge2KAP of the same area at the same height the scale is 1:6627 and its as clear. See the attachments
