On 27 December 2018, authorities in Beijing declared the BeiDou Global
Navigation Satellite System operational.
The image above shows
satellite coverage in most of the Asia-Pacific adequate for position finding with accuracy of 5 metres horizontal and 5 metres vertical or better.
Coverage in the Americas is of lower quality, with much of the Americas only seeing 6 to 8 satellites. That is supposedly enough for positional accuracy of 10 metres horizontal and 10 vertical.
