I have a chart of Bodrum Harbour Turkey dated 1787 . I calibrated it and opened it in Opencpn . It us surprisingly accurate The scale says echelle du mille which translates to scale in miles. So pre decimal . I also recently calibrated an 1800 chart of Delaware river .Wilmington has not moved much since. I lead a sad life Dont forget Columbus managed to hit the Carribean without a chart, but he was aiming at India

Regards

Richard

Re: Frequency of Replacing Paper Charts

I found my main chart in a Neolithic burial site (we do have 'em here - and "back in the day" (as kids) did a bit of DIY archaeology - wasn't quite as frowned upon as nowadays).

Must get around to doing some updates

DOJ,

That is the perfect chart for you. Most days you don't seem to know where you are headed, anyway.
