Eleuthera to Berry’s

We were thinking of possibly crossing from Egg Island directly to a point in the Berry’s. I was wondering why there aren’t any “suggested routes” on Navonics or Explorer Charts.

Aside from wind direction for sailing. Is there current, swell, wind, that would make this route not doable?

It's a deep water route the entire distance. Anywhere in the Berries is almost a direct line from Egg island. You do need the right weather conditions. The Atlantic swell comes in from the Eluthera/Abaco opening, so expect swell in addition to wind driven waves. In the right conditions, it's a nice sail.

You are way over-relying on “recommended routes”. Look at the chart, make your own decisions.

Egg Island to The Berry Islands is all deep water, clear and open. If you expect the chart plotter to make all your decisions for you you aren’t thinking for yourself.
