That hasn't been my experience. I've found them all to be well thought out, well taught and very useful.

have taken a few USCGA classes. Outstanding. Instructors knew their stuff inside and out. Quite apparent they were all very passionate about boating, seamanship and teaching others.

If it were not for the USCGA courses, I probably wouldn't be sailing today.

two handheld Garman GPSmap 76
iPhone + iPad, both with nav package
full set paper charts
two different chart kits
Coast Pilot
dividers, protractors, vector calculator, parallel ruller
PLB with GPS window
