Debris field from tsunami?

Don't know if this is the correct spot to post this but..

I'm curious as to whether anyone has encountered what's mentioned in this article.

A better report: BBC News - US to sink Japanese 'ghost ship' set adrift in tsunami

Interesting that the boat not only survived the tsunami but was able to make a pacific crossing without crew.
