danish chart options?

I recently bought my first boat,a naver 29.it came with a raymarine rc435 plotter and a variety of paper charts of varying ages but none from recent years(vary from maybe 5 to 20 years old) i'm unsure of the age of the charts on the plotter,i'm sure the info is in a submenu somewhere but i'm yet to find it.

i'd like to bring the charting up to date and i'm hoping there might be a few suggestions out there.

so far i have found the following
-http://nvcharts.com/shop/index.php?page=product&info=100193-covers the whole of denmark with paper and digital charts 198 euro
-http://www.isailor.us/-digital charts for ipad -44 gbp
or i can update the charts on the plotter, there seems to be a couple of options which i'm still reading about and buying new paper charts as i need them although that seems quite expensive.

the boat is being lifted next week for the winter so i'm in no rush.

anyone got any got any recommendations for the less expensive options?

Hi Martin,

YOur raymarine plotter is older so I'm almost certain it will be loaded with Jeppesen charts Most any larger marine store can upload a set of new charts for you if you take the chip out of the plotter and bring ti to them (they can do this while you wait).

I don't know the cost now - but figure something like DKK 1500 for a complete set of updated charts (this would be for the entire Baltic including Denmark)

re: paper charts - I'm very old fashioned and we sail with both electronic and paper charts. The euro 198 is the going price. You might find some charts only a year or two old if you look around on some of the Danish language websites.

Hope the above helps - you're always welcome to PM me here on CF if I can help in any other way - although I'm currently sailing in the US and caribbean.

Our books have gotten 5 star reviews on Amazon. Several readers have written "I never thought I would go on a circumnavigation, but when I read these books, I was right there in the cockpit with Vinni and Carsten"

Re: danish chart options?

Hi,

You should be able to find cheap used charts for that plotter on https://www.dba.dk, a quick search for Navionics charts shows several possible candidates. You will need to find CF(CompactFlash) card sharts though, as this is a an older plotter.
Another possibility is to look at https://www.blocket.se/ if you are able to buy from Sweden.

Lycka till,

Otto
