Kickstarter just validated the project, so I'm almost ready to launch, it will be for this week. If you want to be among the firsts to be alerted, just subscribe on the Kickstarter page here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects...-rugged-tablet
Thanks again for your help!
JM, SailProof
Superb. Good luck developing and launching!
Make sure also the image on the tablet (the chart showing) in the kickstarter page is either your own creation or otherwise licensed, or copylefted. I have seen a product developer pestered by a software company when he used an image of a tablet with a specific, copyrighted, application shown on its screen.

You're right, yes. I must say I like to use Navionics chart, and they were happy to help me when I discussed with them, but I'll use mostly SailfreeGPS images, I have an agreement with them ;-)
I was wondering if anyone using a cheapish brand (doogee, blackview, oukitel, ulefone, etc) rugged phone as backup or even main plotter? I am looking for a reliable backup, unfortunately my tablet (samsung Tab A) is having gps signal issues, not waterproof and the screen is way too dim compared to my phone.
I think i could work with the 6"ish screen size, my Lowrance is 5"...
