Chart Swap

Chart Swap is a new web site, offering a network for cruisers to buy, sell and trade electronic charts, paper charts and cruising guides.
Here ➥ Chart Swap - Navigation chart swapping network

I have no affiliation with, nor opinion of, this website.

Although I don't believe that some chart provider will not be happy with that idea, I think it's brilliant.
Important for users of "used products" etc. are the updating status of the bought/hired products and the licensing issue (e.g. Jeppesen ENC).

Does anyone know of any sites that have free or cheap digital charts of the Med and Canaries. There are two choices of digital charts. Raster, which is a picture of the actual paper chart and Vector which is an actual electronic recreation of the paper chart.

Raster are smaller files to work with and are the ones required for the Fugawi Global Navigator. There are Vector out there...we are looking for raster versions.

Actually raster charts are much larger files than vector.

I have the entire world in vector charts that is 1.3gb. The raster charts of just the US is 3.77gb, almost 3 times the size for a much smaller area.

And, no, I don't know of any place to legally get free or cheap charts of the area you are looking for.

I'm looking for charts for the Bahamas. I've read that the Explorer charts are the best. Can anyone tell me where they can be downloaded? Thanks

I see lot of electronic charts and a few guides, but no paper charts. Still, I'll keep an eye on the site.

In the summer I made a list of sources of free ENC charts here: Nuno Navigator Blog | All posts tagged 'free'

I'm always looking to extend it.
