Re: Channel by Key West airport

Even bringing the dinghy in to pick her up, how athletic is she? That side is open and can be a bit rough; the wall is a bit of a climb too. I would ask her to walk around the bend and meet her in the anchorage just east of there. 15 minute walk? While your there check out the museum at the entrance to the airport.

I don't understand why she doesn't just pay the $20 and take a cab ride to the regular dinghy dock. Seems much safer and she gets to see a bunch of Key West!

Ya Key West asolutely sucks for cabs. Like everything else, they are overpriced there. The airport to downtown is a flat rate ($7/head) once you have more than 3 people, otherwise its metered.

I will not run aground. Depth sounder. Anything less than two feet of clearance under the keel and I'm turning around. Thanks for the info the rest of you guys. I'll just anchor off a bit and run in with the dink. Was just wondering.
