Caribbean 1500 weather

They depart on Sunday (the 3rd).

Looks like decent weather for the start +20kts from the NW . . . Fast sailing but Perhaps a bit bouncy across the Gulf Stream. Should go as fast as possible and stay well east of the gc route because . . .

Then the wind rotates to NE (still keep east of the route) and then E . . . At 20kts . . . That's pretty hard upwind in open ocean waves, unless you have already made I 65 and can turn due south.

The salty dog rally is scheduled to leave Monday (and the 1500 on Sunday).

I would leave today, about noon, getting a longer period before the winds start to rotate east.

Scheduled departure dates is the one downside of these rally's.

Sometimes they will move the departure date forward to take advantage of a favorable weather window. And there is nothing to keep you from leaving early if you like...it's just a rally after all.
