Canaveral locks????

Coming into Canaveral for an unscheduled stop. Any info on the locks? I have ZERO experience w locks!! Do they open on a schedule? Any suggestions on going through them? Also C/map shows 89.9’ open clearance for bridge. We’re 83’. Is the 88.9’ the lowest part on the sides when open? Never had to cut it this close. Thanks in advance!

I think those bridges are bascules. The limiting clearance looks like the power lines.


The locks will guide you in n once you contact them

If possible call ahead when in cell phone range for the latest lock info..their skeds can change at the last minute..

Location: Occasionally in Colorado. Generally live-aboard. Eastern Caribbean for the upcoming season. Nova Scotia and Newfoundland again next summer.

It has been a couple years since I've transited that lock but I don't remember anything interesting or difficult about it. Pretty similar to the Virginia Cut or Dismal Swamp locks IIRC. Hours appear to be 6:30AM to 9PM

The Corps of Engineers website has this - For up to date Lock information contact the shift operator 7 AM to 5 PM at:
