Re: C-MAP/ GPS Problem

following on from the question above I had a similar issue. I'm using maxsea. my GPS (the same as Tom's BU-353 seems to connect to the computer OK on com port 4). However maxsea only gives me the option to add a device on port 3 or port 10, and those cannot be re-assigned.

If anyone had any suggestions I'd be very grateful

thanks

Alex

Please try FransonGPS
it is a common solution for many maxsea interfacing problems ;-)

Re: C-MAP/ GPS Problem

Hi Basile

Greetings from London. I'm using the same combination as Tom (C-MAP, Fransom GPS gate and a USB GPS). Data is being received but it is inaccurate by 200 - 300 metres. I've tested it out in an open space, away from building etc but the problem persists. Do you have any idea what might be causing that?

Many thanks in advance

Re: C-MAP/ GPS Problem

thanks Laidback. the default datum of the GPS is WGS 84 which is the same as the chart. I've not figured out how to change it yet but will have a look at that.

As I'm London at the moment so my charting software doesn't show that however I'm just going by the Lat and Long and comparing it to that on google earth (which is WGS 84) and my iphone (not sure what that is).

Do we understand Chart SOFTWARE
Not what is on the physical paper chart - check the datum at the bottom of the paper chart.
The use of Google Earth coordinates NOT recommended for navigation.
Cannot recommend enough to plot GPS lat/long to paper charts (plus making sure that the appropriate datum is selected when setting up the GPS.)
