Re: C-Map Digital Charts for Bahamas are not accurate! :(

It is not a wise man that attempts to run ANY channel in the Bahamas at night!

I understand a channel doesn't move but unless the channel markers are pilings driven into the seabed then they are capable of moving. How much depends on the chain they are anchored.

Re: C-Map Digital Charts for Bahamas are not accurate! :(

I just confirmed that the C-Map charts are 100% wrong.

I inserted the chip for Navionics Platinum+ for Bahamas and the EXACT same track laid down when using C-Map is displaying accurately using Navionics.

Also, Navionics shows a correct updated map of my anchorage.

Re: C-Map Digital Charts for Bahamas are not accurate! :(

We left Key Biscayne Tuesday morning at 4:30, cleared customs in Bimini in the afternoon, then sailed directly to Highborne Cay getting here today, Thursday. In Bimini we tied up at Weech's Dock. The track line on our Simrad NSS7 using the 09/30/2016 chip shows us on the inside of the face dock; we were actually on the outside. I'd call that perfect. We did not go up to Resort World, but we did go around North Rock, and it was depicted correctly on the chartplotter.

I have seen errors on C-Map charts. Over the 13 years we have used their products, we once got two bad NT+ chips which C-Map replaced (and thanked us for reporting the problem). Another time in the Abacos using the mixed Explorer / Wavey Line NT+ Bahamas chip, the spoil island near Baker's Bay would appear and disappear with changes in chart scale (again C-Map thanked us and sent us a corrected chip). Other than that, no problems.

Give C-Map a call. They may be able to help with your problem. They care.
