British Sailing Directions - free as PDF

The British Admiralty published Sailing Directions with worldwide coverage including local information, piloting, harbors, etc. These can be bought as printed version and I believe there are 79 different regions.

Does anyone know if these available as PDF files and, hopefully, for free?

What other government-produced cruising guides are out there that are worthwhile?

They are not as detailed as the British ones but still interesting for getting a feel of the area.
