Biscayne to Key West Chart?

I am embarassed, I must be missing something simple because I can not find ICW charts from Biscayne Bay to Key West.

Where can I look?

I have the latest (fifth edition) ICW chartbook for Norfolk to Miami.

Thanks

There's a chartbook that covers the east coast of fl and the keys and one west coast and the keys, either one is good.

Search NOAA Nautical Charts:
NOAA Nautical Charts - OceanGrafix - Browse NOAA Nautical Charts - All

ie:

Chart #11460, Cape Canaveral to Key West
Chart 11460

Chart: 11462, Fowey Rocks to Alligator Reef
Chart 11462

I'm not at all sure the AICW goes to KW. I know that the Gulf Coast ICW does not.

There are marked channels both inside(in Florda Bay) and outside(between the keys and the reef). Inside is limited to 5ish foot draft. Lots of anchorages, few marinas for cruising boats. Outside (Hawk Channel) has few anchorages, lots of marinas with charter fising boats, some with decent controlling depths. Crossovers at "Channel 5 bridge, west of Key Largo and 7 mile bridge west of Marathon.

there's a good book that covers that trip: Cruising Guide to the Florida Keys.

Try here for free download of pdfs of official NOAA charts. (The root page for these charts is here)

Sorry, I didn't quickly find a chart 1 to show outlines to make it easy to find which charts your really need. But they are somewhat in order by area.

For other ideas for free charts, check the link in my signature.

I believe the ICW actually goes west at Stuart through Okee Waterway to Ft. Myers and then up the Gulf Coast to Texas. There may be inside passages through Biscayne, but I think that is not part of the ICW.

This BLOWS my mind!

Everywhere I look and read there seems to be such different opinions for wher the ICW traverses.

Even Rand McNally road maps show (dotted line) the ICW all the way to Key West on the East coast and then back up the West Coast.

I always thought the Intracoastal (with a capitol I) goes through the Okeechobee. There are, however, intracoastal routes many other places, including all the way to Key West. There are also some places on the Intracoastal that have alternate routes, both considered official (like Dismal Swamp). Maybe that is the case with Okeechobee vs Key West.

But I would trust the official charts vs Rand McNally. And if I remember correctly, the charts only show it going through Okeechobee, not around the Keys. I could, of course, be dis-remembering...

Because the ICW south of Miami is now on the west side of the Florida Keys the Miami to Mobile ICW Chartkit will have the charts you need.

I don't know the east coast well enuff to be sure about either of the routes to KW being ICW or not, but Mile 1 of the Gulf Coast ICW starts at the north side of the Caloosahatchee River in the Ft Myers/Cape Coral area. The Calosahatchee is the route west from Okechobee. Ft Myers end of route across is big numbers like Mile 128. My other boats have been too tall to go across to Stuart. Present boat is not, and that crossing is on my bucket list.
