Binnacle fittings

Is there a standard diameter for the stainless fittings over a binnacle? I sail on a lot of different boats and I want to buy a handlebar mount for my handheld GPS. Are they typically a 1" or 1 1/4" fitting?

Made from SS tubing, standard sizes for tubing is 7/8, 1", 1 1/4".
Most boats I have worked on has 1".
Some mounts have adapters to adjust to different sizes.
Key, measure first.

I was afraid that was the case. Would measure first if I could but I sail on 20-25 different boats a year. I guess I could buy more than one ring fitting and carry them all onto every boat but I'd rather not.

Thanks but mountain biking aside, I'm not sure I'd trust that gizmo.

Look into RAM Mounts.. They make adjustable clamps. I use one for my ipad. Works great, can tighten down hard.
