Best time of year to sail from Caribbean to Nova Scotia?
Hello,
I wish to sail my boat from Grenada (Grenada Marine) to Nova Scotia. When would be the best weather to do this? My preference is sometime around April/May? Thank you ... very much appreciated! Mark.
May to June is considered to be the right time to leave Caribbean to head north. You want to leave before hurricane season anyways. No personal experience but that is what I would do. Nova Scotia is on my list also.

Make your way up to St Martin then jump off from there early April to mid May.. remember.. hurricane season officially kicks off June 1st and you'll be sailing up 'Hurricane Alley' at least as far as Bermuda.. early tropical storms often hit the 'fleets' heading for Europe via Bermuda after mid May...
Have a good trip..

If you jump off before mid-May, you are probably going to hit a series of fairly strong cold fronts. The season in Maine doesn't really start till mid-June.
