Where does data come from and When?

No one knows! It is more of an art piece than anything else. It does seem to update pretty regularly though. I've watched that depression off of Iceland cross the Atlantic for a day or so.

It uses data from the GFS model. Updated every three hours. Same as the GRIBs you can download.
