ActiveCaptain Android app

I would like to be clear about which app I am referring to here.
I have both.
The Locations app functions fine, and without any issues.
This thread is regarding the app simply called ActiveCaptain (the one that shows the hazard and service markers).

I am not able to zoom in so that I have a useful view.
The scope is several thousand miles and shows zero detail.
I have downloaded the map tiles for the surrounding area.
How do I zoom in to make the map useful?
