Active Captain

Is Active Captain working today? All I get is a page to update Flash player. I've done that but still can't see the maps.

Re: Active Captain

Well, I never thought I would need a backup computer! I guess I should uninstall flash player and reinstall it.

Re: Active Captain

I deleted flash player and reinstalled it - no dice. I installed Chrome and it works. Internet Explorer seems to work fine for everything else.

I hate computers!

Re: Active Captain

Is it possible that you've turned off scripting in IE?
Check it here:
  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. Click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options.
  3. On the Security tab, click the Custom level button.
  4. Scroll down the Security Settings list until you see Scripting and Active scripting.
  5. Click Enable, click OK, and then click OK again.

No, Active scripting is already enabled.

Re: Active Captain

I wish ALL web sites would just get rid of Flash altogether. Most already have.

I know computers and laptops are sort of old-fashioned, and updating web sites dedicated to them, like AC, isn't very sexy. There are so many "cooler" things coders could be working on.

Still, AC fills a need, and it would be nice if it were updated to newer technologies.

Re: Active Captain

I'll second that - I sent a bit of a rant to AC the other day after yet again having trouble with a Flash update. For some reason it's erratic on my Mac, and since AC is the only website authorized to use Flash on my system it would be easier if they would just catch up with the technology.

That said, I do authorize it because I find the system interesting and useful. And usually get the updates to install on the second or third try.
