6' Draft into Crystal River, FL?

I'm seeing some concerning and conflicting info about Crystal River and its entrances. Does anybody know if I can safely carry a 6' draft into the anchorage opposite Pete's Pier?

i've been doing some research, and i think you'd be fine in the main channel.. i draw less than 5ft... if the weather works out, i'll be headed there this weekend.

i'll report back if i have any issues 🤣

Cool. We're at Port St Joe now. Heading for Carrabelle Wednesday. Will hang out in Apalachicola Bay for a while before making the jump.

We are still at Port St Joe, waiting for computer repairs. When we do leave, we'll probably hit Carrabelle for supplies and fuel then hang out around Apalachicola Bay for several days before making the jump. At Crystal River we'll anchor in Kings Bay if there's room.

curious to see if you made it to Crystal River and what you found out regarding the channel and its depths?

i started towards CR weekend before last, and ended up turning around after i got ~11 miles offshore... got smacked by a huge storm (~3hrs in 38+knt winds and pretty big waves) that i was not expecting. decided to try for another day 🤣😭

back in ATL until 2nd week of sept... will hopefully be installing a chartplotter which should make storm sailing a bit more tolerable 🙏

Re: 6' Draft into Crystal River, FL?

The only marina with slips deep enough for our 6 ft draft is the Moorings but they are very expensive. So we anchor in the river fot 2 or 3 days, then sail over to Dog Island for a few of the winds look favorable. Where is ATL?

i have a slip right by the public boat launch on the west side of the river... you go right past her when you come/go out of carrabelle ⛵️
