What is this Windlass?

1958 De Vries 40 foot ketch. Trying to identify the windlass (original I think). Has Guindeau RIP embossed on it. No other docs. Anyone know the manufacturer or where I could get spares, or any info in general . Thank you for your time.

Are there any more words on it. Guindeau is french for windlass.

In that case I guess Guindeau RIP means the windlass is dead lol.

"R.I.P. de la Ste. SGDC" If you can translate that from the French into English, you will learn more about your windlass. I'm sorry, but my French does not extend to working out abbreviations. Maybe someone else can help.

It looks a nice, sturdy bronze unit.

You mean like your anchor with a jammed windlass???

Just take it off your boat and take it apart. You probably will see what part is damaged.... The spareparts will be available at a machinefactory
