Re: What Is the 'Best' Anchor ?

I recently did a delivery of a 36 foot gamefishing vessel and before setting out checked the condition of the CQR anchor on the bowsprit and found that it had fully seized in the joint. As it was solidly seized and could not be freed up I put it in the "freebies bin" at the marina & replaced it with a Super Sarca # 5 which performed brilliantly on a 1,000 NM passage on all types of bottoms. I was very impressed at how quickly this anchor set which allowed us to sleep with confidence and I agree with the comments made above by bobofthenorth. It certainly sets much faster than past experiences I have had with CQR's.
