Wanted Manual Bronze Windlass

Hello,

We're a swedish couple currently renovating our 33ft Gaff Pilot Cutter. We're in need of a traditional manual bronze anchor windlass suitable 10mm or 3/8" chain.
Anyone?

We're new members, please check out our album for pics on our renovation project..

Welcome to CF Pat and Helena!!!

That is seriously one of the most stunningly beautiful boats ever... I wish you were in my marina so I could see her in person!

I can't think of anything else that belongs on the foredeck besides what you are looking for... I have no leads except stateside...

Check at Toplicht. They sell two kinds.

I believe the maker may be Muir.

Could be an OZ company.

Cheers,
b.

That is one beautiful boat you guys have there!

Google "sailors exchange" in St Augustine, first place that comes to mind if I was searching for a suitable windlass.

Keep up the good work there,
Les

Re: Wanted Manual Bronze Windlass

Thank you everyone for your comments, you are very kind.

We should have specified that we're looking for a traditional windlass on the second hand market (for economical reasons, of course).
If there's anyone out there with a RC Plath 7B windlass or alike for sale, so, please let us know..

This company is in the US, but they do offer bronze windlasses both electric and manual. http://abbaind.com/catalog/plath_marine_catalog.pdf

Good luck!

Yes on Sailors Exchange in St. Augustine Florida. I was there two months ago and they had an old bronze windlass. Google them.

Re: Wanted Manual Bronze Windlass

Thank you all for your greetings and your help.
We've checked out the Sailors Exchange in St Augustine, but, it seems the bronze windlass is sold.
We've seen the RC Plath windlass (Abba Industries) and it's really a gem...we'll think about it...a second hand one would be more economical, though.

Cheers!!

Re: Wanted Manual Bronze Windlass

You might try contacting Muir Windlass co in Hobart, TAsmania. They are a very reasonable and helpful outfit, and are in the center of an area much concerned with vintage boats. From memory, their windlasses are made of bronze and then plated. PErhaps they could simply sell you one that skipped that last step.

good luck,

Jim
