Re: Ultra anchor

It's very nice looking, but overpriced IMHO. Even if it works great I can't believe it is worth two or three times as much as one of the other "new generation" anchors. I'm personally not sold on SS for an anchor mainly due to the potential for crevice corrosion when you are anchored for long periods of time. I occasionally anchor someplace for a month or more, and I believe that plain old galvanized steel is better in that environment.

Having said that you can probably find my opinion on it somewhere out there anyway, I'll just be repeating myself. Hint: it's more about Spade and Ultra, nothing to do with Rocna.

IMHO, a manufacturer should only be allowed to comment or answer questions about his product in the forums. The first time he posts a negative comment about a competitor, he should be history.

If you put any faith in anchor tests, and you want independent test results from magazines who aren't in the business of selling anchors, then please send me a PM with your e-mail address and I will forward you test data that I have on the Ultra.

As an example, there was a test done in Italy where the Ultra performed quite well and received some very positive accolades.

Cheers,
Brian

Re: Ultra anchor

As the Western Hemisphere importer of the Ultra Anchor I will be pleased to answer any questions off or online or you may visit our website. We will be exhibiting at the Palm Beach Boat Show next week 24-27 March 2011, please feel free to come by and experiment. Not really a cruisers boat show I know, but you gotta do what you gotta do. (Sorry to be so commercial.)
