So I'm out on the first
cruise of the season. Heading to Three Mile Harbor on
Long Island to spend the U.S Holiday weekend of Labor Day. I planned to arrive early to get a spot before the crowds come or maybe splurge on a town
mooring. In a previous stop I noticed the pin on the swivel was looking a little poor. No problem as I had a spares on board. I thought I would then get on a
mooring a make the change out of the swivel. I called the Harbormaster and asked where the moorings are. His answer there are not any. Seems the village trustees decided not to put them in this year. So if you are cruising through Long Island's east end expecting to fine a town mooring in Three Mile Harbor they are no longer there. Fortunately, there is lot's of space to
anchor most of the time.
