Stowing Fortress on deck

I've carried a big Fortress for years but always broken down and stowed in the bilge. I'd like to carry it on deck so it's more at the ready, but I can't see a good way to carry it. If I hook it to the pulpit, the shank drags on the deck.

Anyone have a good method of keeping the Fortress on deck, at the ready.

Re: Stowing Fortress on deck

Can tie it with some 'easily undone' lashings on the outside of the bow pulpit tubing and place a pad where it rests on the deck, then also tie the shank and chain to the lower lifeline there so nit does not rub on deck. It's always ready and will nor snag the jib sheet or dock lines. Lashed these 3 places is how I carry mine. No clanging noises either. I did slide a piece of rubber hose onto the shaft that rests on the pad.
