Like my 80% tread car tyres, it don't need replacing yet.
You can hardly see any wear on the galv at all

Storing the chain in oil or any other petroleum product sounds good and will most probably stop any further oxidation/rust - - but - - you might just get into a heap of trouble and financial grief when you finally drop that "oiled-up" chain into the local waters.
- - There will most probably be a rather large oil-slick surrounding your vessel and depending upon the local pollution laws you could be in deep do-do.
