Simpson Lauwence 555 - Gypsy Sizing

I've been looking for one of these winches, and have seen "3/8 BBB or 5/16 HT gypsy" advertised a couple times.

I managed to find a manual (http://www.lewmar.com/cms%5Cassets%5...er-D1031-1.pdf), which seems to indicate that these chains are not compatible in the same gypsy.

I have 5/16HT chain. What's the real scoop - which gypsy do I need?

If you have 5/16" chain then you need a 5/16" gypsy. 5/16" chain will not work in a 3/8" gypsy or visa versa. It is easy enough to replace the gypsy but they cost about $200.

Thanks David, but I'm actually looking for a part number. I believe it's the RCB70 gypsy that's rumored to work with 5/16HT, apparently due to 5/16HT having a similar link length to 3/8BBB, but I'd like to confirm that before I buy something.

I'll buy this winch and sort it out later if I can find a gypsy for $200. Do you have a source?
