Saddle for Kellet
Where can I buy a saddle for my kellet?
I have been reading The Complete Book of Anchoring and Mooring by Earl Hinz. He mentions using a saddle for a kellet on a rope rode to minimize abrasion.
Where can I buy one of these?

Re: Saddle for Kellet
I saw one the other day at a consignment shop out here in Ventura, California. But I'd also check Minney's Yacht supply in Costa Mesa. I bet they have 2 or 3. Bacon in Maryland may have some too.

Re: Saddle for Kellet
Surely buying a larger anchor would have a greater more useful effect than faffing around with a kellet. We had one and sold it.
You might do a search on here about anchors, there has been the odd discussion over the years
Start with this one: https://www.cruisersforum.com/forums...ce-249475.html
I have laminated the image Longjohnsilver posted and stuck it inside the anchor locker lid. Works for me.

Re: Saddle for Kellet
These things are out of favor especially with the advent of modern, far superior anchors. Better holding, no complications , no tangles, no fouling. Never drag our ROCNA.

Re: Saddle for Kellet
The most recent edition of that book is pushing 20 years old. While new information was added to that edition, unfortunately, older, obsolete information was left in. A kellet is very much obsolete if you use modern anchoring techniques.

Why not just put a block on the rope rode? Any block with removable cheek plates will work.
