However any google search will turn up the previous quoted values as well as the deleted old website pages that extoll the virtues of the high strength used and put down the competition as inferior.
There was never a unit manufactured in China that came remotely anywhere near this yield strength required.
Judge for yourself as to what you want to believe and who you want to believe but as you seem to be an intelligent person who can read and understand then I suggest you google search past statements and decide if you trust any of the BS thrown out there by a CEO who is a professional salesman who thinks he can continue to sell ice to the eskimos.
Published facts do not lie and nor do they go away no matter how much they try to "bend" them.
These people with their underhanded and evasive statements have seriously damaged the reputation of one of the best designed anchors in the world and unfortunately only a return to original specs will save the brand from further erosion.
But that will require a lessening of profits

Q620D (equivalent grade to G800 high strength low alloy steel). This steel has an Ultimate Tensile Strength that typically falls within the range of 710-880mpa."
690 is not 710 or 880mpa so it does not come up to the specification clame or used.
Therefore in UK Rocna should refund through their distributors the costs of all the anchors purchased at least in the UK because they were sold under false pretences. Also under section 75 of the consumer act 1978 if any were purchased using a credit card the credit card company is jointly and severally responsible to make reparation if the manufacturer or reseller can't or will not pay.

Section 75 refunds: Free protection for ALL spending...

Re: Rocna Anchor Fail
The UK distributor is happy to take back the anchor and fully refund the cost so no problems there.
However ( and perhaps understandably given the initial approach of Rocna to competitors ) there is something of a feeding frenzy going on here. I prefer to decide for myself whether the downgrading of the steel specification is material or not and only then decide whether I want to exchange the anchor.
Marinextreme - I have failed miserably to Google a reference by the designer to the 690 figure though I know that this is the minimum number for the Bisalloy steel. Can you help by pointing me in the right direction?

Well, I picked up the Manson Supreme today and it looks just like a Manson.
And sorta like the Rocna looked.
I was surprised how it looked.

Yeah, that was my first thought ....... but you should look again at the pictures. The roll bar is still there in the shadows. I have no clues about the chewed up shank though. Could something like this represent an new anchor? Mine looked flawless!

Re: Rocna Anchor Fail
I also thought the roll bar was cut out
but if you click on the picture so it is bigger you can see it fine

Who is welding these things?
When I bought my made-in-Canada Rocna a few years back, I posted on this site that it looked as if it had been welded by some kid in a junior-high metal shop class. (Not to mention the fact that the roll bar was crooked.)
Fortunately, it seems to be working just as well as anyone else's.

Re: Rocna Anchor Fail
Looks like a home made copy the welding is bad the surface is pitted there are lumps where there should not be lumps (Galvanising or welding rubbish)
My did not and does not look like that at all the slot in the shank has grind marks at the end.
If mine had been like that I would have sent it back directly or not accepted it.!!!

Re: Rocna Anchor Fail
I think there is a bit of deflection going on here, (stop looking at me, "LOOK" at him!!) the anchor as shown by therapy would never have got out of the manson factory, copy perhaps? the only thing that says it is a manson is the sticker and an approximation to the design. Red Herring me thinks!

I wouldn't say this as it looks just like the MS I have. The rool bar weld is not that pretty, but then it does have to be. The shank weld on the other is different qnd the one on mine is a nice weld job.

Sold to me as new.
Maybe a Manson person will attempt a comment. Doubt it though.

I think they are to busy making Anchors.
All Manson info is on their website.
It takes two to argue and two to make a court case.
No argument no court cases.
Personally I think in this instance it is a waste of time and money.
Some people dig their own graves without any help from others.
I would not be surprised if Manson watched all these threads and are having a good laugh.

If you really want to get picky on cosmetics I have a few hundred photos of 'reject" rocnas and by comparison that manson here would be perfectly ok on the same scale of appearance.
