I sail the Chesapeake, one of the best places for finding sticky mud. My Manson Supreme brings up mud, sure, but 2-3 pokes with a long-handled scraper (plastic blade with a broom stick handle) cleans it off with far less effort, time, and fuss than a wash-down pump (I've tried both approaches).

The mud was a concern of mine when I bough the anchor (my Delta was self-cleaning) but it hasn't been an issue in practice.

Re: New Anchor - Manson Boss

Their website says they will be available starting in april of this year. I would love to get my hands on one of these and see how well it sets. Getting rid of the roll bar would certainly not be a bad thing if it still sets and veers well.

Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy. I can hardly wait. I can't believe I'm soon going to be able to get rid of the undersized CQR and get a new gen anchor that will actually fit through my bowsprit!

From their website:

Next Generation - Manson Boss anchor for motor yachts

I'm pretty confident in the design, and not very confident in my current anchor. So my only real question is, do I wait and see some independent testing, or do I rush out and just buy it? I'm honestly not sure on that one, but leaning towards the latter.

Re: New Anchor - Manson Boss

I love their little "shot" at you know who... they used to be the other NZ anchor manufacturer, and moved to China, and.... well... you guys know the rest of the story.

From Manson's news release:
With all the controversy recently about anchors and materials, Manson are proud to continue to make their anchors in New Zealand out of only the safest Lloyd’s Approved Mill steel. Manson CEO Steve Mair says, “An Anchor is first and foremost a safety item. When a customer puts their family’s life and their boats value in your hands, you treat that trust with the upmost responsibility. There are no shortcuts or cheaper alternatives when lives are at risk”. Mair continues, “At Manson, we put principles before profits and would never compromise boater safety by making anchors out of substandard material or misleading customers about what our anchors are made from. We have conducted our business this way for 39 years and we shall always strive to make products with integrity, and products you can trust for the safety of both yourself and your family.”

Can you elaborate please?

I was just informed by West Marine that they will receive their first shipment of Manson Boss anchors "in about 2-3 weeks".

Re: New Anchor - Manson Boss

Guess I'll have to wait and see. Hoping this will be the answer to my want for a modern anchor and the need for it to fit on a bowsprit roller.
