Muir VR3000 Windless help
Has anyone got, or at least knows anything about this particular Muir windlass? I'm trying to find out if it can be used manually if the motor fails? What is the hinged flap on the top? Does it have a function?
Also does anyone know if it can rotate freely to drop the anchor without having to winch it down? It seems like a big robust windlass however the only literature I have is the sales brochure with all the specs. I don't have operations manual. It seems to be from around 1990. Tried searching the net but there just seems to be no info.

Look down into the socket the winch handle goes.
IF there is rod sticking up in the center it should be the disconnect.

Yep, I’ve got the same one, and I’m here in Adelaide also.
PM me if you’d like to discuss, but in short, the handle on top locks and disengages the clutch. And yes, there’s a manual mode, but I haven’t tried it yet.
edit: I’m about 50 meters from your boat on the red and white Swanson.

Yeah would love to learn how to operate it. So you're at 35 south? Have we met?. Lol

PM me your email address and I'll send you a scanned copy of my manual. (Not a great scan I'm afraid)

Done. That's awesome thanks. Went past your boat this morning but but your windlass is nice and dry under its cover. [emoji4][emoji108]

I'm away from the boat at the moment but will look for it when I get back tonight, unless Yev can get his hands on what I sent him more easily?
PM me your email address.

Re: Muir VR3000 Windless help
Hi There,
I have the same winch. the motor failed and I got it rebuilt. I think I have some parts missing. I would love to get a copy of the manual for this winch so that I can get it sorted.
Thanks heaps
Cheers

Pm me your email address and I’ll send it through. I’ve never figured out how to post a PDF here.
