Muir Cougar Horizontel Anchor Winch....

I fitted a new horizontal Muir Cougar Anchor Winch a while back.
The chain return into the locker is right under the Gypsy as per instructions.
My problem is that my chain locker is to small and the chain can build up and jam the winch. I can't move the winch more forward because of the deck design but it would help a lot if I could move the hose pipe about 6 inches forward and let the chain fall further forward in the locker.
Before drilling a 2 inch hole in my deck I thought I ask the question if anybody here has done this or if anybody can see a problem with that idea
Otherwise I have to come up with a solution inside the locker.
Cheers
Reiner

PS I have to learn how to insert photos here..........

Had the same issues. I carry 300 feet of 5/16 and it would pile up to à pirimid under the winch.
When pulling the.length in now, i stand over the locker with à boat hook pulling it into the lower areas.

That would work if you have access to the chain from above.....I can't get to the chain from upstairs, only from the V'berth.
Maybe I need a hatch in there......
Thanks for your reply
