Mooring at Gladstone or Yeppoon, Australia

Heading to Gladstone/Mackay area and looking to leave 36ft yacht preferably at a pile mooring or other. Even contemplating leaving it on anchor for a few weeks in a suitable spot. Can anyone recommend a suitable anchorage or better still a pile mooring.

The marina at Gladestone ran by the Port Authority is as reasonable as you will get these days. Considering, the service is friendly and amenities good. They have a few swing moorings, but I would be phoning ahead to check availibitity. They might even know the details of the piles around the corner.

I believe Gladstone marina now has a 3 week limit, you should be able to get a mooring or anchor at Rockhampton, contact the fitzroy motor boat club FMBC. Read Cruising The Coral Coast for details.
