Manson Supreme

We just completed a trip from CT to FL along the ICW. And without a doubt one of the highlites, at least from a boat performance standpoint, was our Manson. We anchored 75% of the time and in many gales. Not once did we drag our 30,000 lb sailboat.. Even when we were in SC and GA where we would anchor in small deep creeks and reversed direction and strongly every 6 hours with tides. I know that the anchor thing has been beat to death here, but just wanted to put in some actual performance.

Mike,

I've had the same performance with my 45# Supreme on a 19000# boat. Can't say enough about this anchor. I notice this year that many more boats have the Manson Supreme or Rocna.

Lake,

I have a 60 lb Supreme with 3/8" HT chain...it may seem like overkill but I am able to sleep every night...

After many months of procrastination and trawling through these forums, I finally picked up a new 35 lb (size as recommended by the manufacturer) Supreme yesterday. Looking forward to using it over the Easter break.

Hopefully it will outperform the old el cheapo Chinese clone plough anchor that never gave my much confidence when at anchor.

Thanks Mike & Paula! Thats good to know. I'm looking at the same anchor right now. Finally something good from a Manson family!

Got the same thing as Island Mike (above)...60# Manson with 3/8" HT. This is a big anchor with almost seven inches across the shank portion at it's widest point. (It looks like it could hold the QE2 in a hurricane!)...kidding aside...the issue we had is space in the bow roller slot especially the point where the anchor begins to lay back down on the deck after coming over the roller. Ours was a little close and took a small modification but I could see where it might not fit some bow roller designs. Also, the anchor itself is much wider than our 45# CQR so if anyone orders one this size be sure you have enough room in the roller.

Ditto about the Manson. We switched from a 45# Delta to the 45# Manson on our 2004 Hunter 41, which displaces about 20,000 lbs. We use 50' HT 5/16 chain and 250' of 5/8 rode. Great here on the Chesapeake.
