Looking for someone to place mooring in Whitsundays

Hi everyone.

We're getting to the point where we need to look at putting down our mooring in the Whitsundays - Shute Harbour to be precise. Will most probably build our own mooring block and tackle, but need someone who has the equipment to drop it into place using DGPS as required by our permit. Can anyone recommend a suitable contractor that services this area?

You can replicate a DGPS with 2 hand held GPSs and cell phones. Get one person to place one GPS at a nearby accurately surveyed location and to phone you with the difference his GPS is reading.

You meanwhile are in a boat and apply that difference to what your GPS is reading to arrive at the desired location as per your permit. Then drop your mooring overboard. Voila! Depending on how heavy your mooring will be, you can drag it out with your own boat while it's supported by flotation bags, a dinghy or similar.

Dive on it before use to ensure it all looks good.
