Re: Living With an Oversized Anchor

DIRT FREE is an 18,000lb. boat with a 55lb. Rocna and all chain rode. I simply could not fit anything bigger or I would have. I have been anchored through three tropical storms and one direct hit from a tornado. Biggest of the right type is my credo.
I sleep well.

Re: Living With an Oversized Anchor

The other day I saw a 40' sailboat with a 120lb Mantus. I thought that might acturally be oversize, but then I realized that it fit on the roller so therefore it wasn't.

Re: Living With an Oversized Anchor

Opinions vary.. yet i dont see any real merit in a lighter anchor, other than the purchase price.

In the end, the difference between a slim/beefy one may be 25# or less..

Much ado about nothing (for anyone claiming to have found the perfect type/size, Latins said that man takes a measure on anything, rather subjectively)
