Lighthouse windlass

Does anyone know if the fitting available on a lighthouse windlass is the same star pattern for a typical manual windlass? Thanks.

Hhhhmmm... I should know this-- but I've not installed mine yet. Do the photos on their website not detail this?

I can snap a photo of mine if you like, tomorrow?

Re: Lighthouse windlass

IIRC it is a standard winch handle fitting. Makes no sense to be anything else!

Re: Lighthouse windlass

I have the electric motor. I don't have a winch handle on my boat to try and no sailboats in the neighborhood, so I thought someone here would know. Thanks.

Re: Lighthouse windlass

As per the website, quoting;
"Both manual modes are operated with a standard winch handle."

Re: Lighthouse windlass

Our Lighthouse 1501 windlass uses a standard winch handle on the end(s) of the horizontal axle and the top kedging socket.

From the manufacturer's website:

Quote:
TWO MANUAL MODES:
Fast rewind socket port & starboard, or an amazing 10,200 lbs., on second speed with only 35lbs. Exerted on a 10" winch handle using the kedging socket located on top of winch. Both manual modes are operated with a standard winch handle. Rope wildcat allows rapid rope retrieval and can be tailed, even under power.
If your winch is not elevated enough from the deck, you will need a ratcheting winch handle (as rare as Unicorn poop...) to drive the horizontal axle due to clearance.

Or you can use one of the right-angle drill motors with a winch bit. (That is our back-up scenario.)

And if you are new to Lighthouse windlasses, it may be worth noting that Lighthouse provides all apare parts as well as a rebuild service for both the windlass [25% of new cost] and gypsies [50% of new cost.]

In case this helps.

Cheers, Bill

I would like to fins someone who has a Hydraulic Motor on their Lighthouse windlass. I was not aware they sold the hydraulic component for their windlass--- but Intrigued and curious....

Lighthouse is quite helpful, and they are the designer and manufacturer. Just give them a call…

"Or a company tooting their own horn,,,,,,,"
Well, that's what you'll get if you call them, as has been suggested.

Re: Lighthouse windlass

Hey Guys, does anyone have a link to a instruction manual PDF for the Lighthouse 1501?
The top ratchet, for kedging, overheats when I'm using my windless in normal use so I believe I need to repair.

Many thanks in advance if can assist.
