Kudos to Fortress Anchors

couple years ago I dropped the hook in some very rocky area off the north coast of California, (shelter cove) ...
Must have hooked into a couple of rocks as it was hell to get it back up, and when I did break it lose, I had bent the cross-bar and one of the mud plates..

And this was a couple years ago... But I called the company this morning and told them what had happened..
Couldnt have talked to a nicer lady on the phone who said the anchor has a "LIFETIME" warrenty, and they are sending me the replacement parts for the cost of shipping only, about $15.00 bucks.....
Now thats saying "Good On You" when a company will support my stupidty in anchoring with a sand or mud anchor in a rocky area..

re: Kudos to Fortress Anchors

Fortress are great.

They will replace with no questions asked. Even if the anchor is bent say in a marina collision they will fix it for you. They don't normally want the damaged parts back which saves a lot hassle.

There is a thread here on anchor warranties:

Re: Kudos to Fortress Anchors

Gents,

Thanks for the kind words.

Customers never have to send back damaged parts, it would obviously be a hassle.

If they are asking us for a complete new anchor, then we simply ask them to send us images of their damaged anchor so that we can assess it.

Much appreciated,
Brian

Re: Kudos to Fortress Anchors

I use a small Fortress as my stern anchor. Works great and easy to handle as it hardly weighs anything. Nice to know about their warranty support, though I hope I never need it. Thanks for the great product!

Re: Kudos to Fortress Anchors

We have been using Danforth's for our main anchors for more years then I like to remember!! But we also carry 2 of the largest Fortress's for use in extreme anchoring conditions. We have had only needed them once so far! but the room they take up is minable, and they don't weight much! but they hold like hell!! and they set easy from a dink or even a canoe if needed! For folks who have never set an anchor from a dink LOL it can be a JOB with a standard type anchor, and the light weight of the fortress sure makes it easier!! I would sure hate to try to hand set a Danforth of the same size from a dink!! Anyway I thank fortress for a great product, it's rare these day's to get a product that doe's what it say's it will and fix it when ya goof it up !! !! Would not trade mine for brand new one of these NEW AGE anchors LOL Just my 2 cents

Re: Kudos to Fortress Anchors

We can vouch for the holding ability of a Fortress in sand. Our Guardian G-55 buried so deep in Biscayne Bay a few years back that we bent a fluke trying to break it free. Beausoleil weighs 30 tons, so after a couple weeks in high winds off Miami Yacht Club it dug way down.

Unfortunately, the reason the Guardian is less expensive than the Fortress line is that it doesn't have a lifetime warranty...

But it still works fine - it's only slightly bent. We now use it as a backup to our 80lb Manson.

My only reservation is their recommendation to keep the "mud palms" in place for most conditions. We found over the years that in Florida, Bahamas and Caribbean, it sets faster and better without the mud palms. Save them for mud only.

Re: Kudos to Fortress Anchors

Aside from the fact that it's a great anchor the warranty was a factor in my decision to buy a Fortress.
