No sorry, can you visualize what I'm talking about? I'm not sure what exactly they're called but they are a link that you would insert between the last links of each piece of chain by prying apart the joining link and then bending back to shape once the chains are joined. I've used them lots on non galvanized chains but can't remember if I have ever seen a galvanized version. They
work really well.
I agree about the welding thing but when chain is used in critical applications, here in
Canada, it is often not allowed to weld chain. That's just
government regulation though.
