Jabsco Deck Wash very hard to use

Installed a Jabsco Deck wash fitting last year and have found it very hard to get the fittings together. (I doubt my wife could do it at all!).

I have removed the spring an other bits on the hose side, but it's still really hard. Has anyone else had this problem and more importantly any ideas on how to fix this... I really like the deck wash, but it's so hard to hook up the hose

After a few years ours is still "firm", but doable. My wife can do it and usually get it in by putting good downward force while twisting.

Still sometimes it pops out if we didn't do it correctly.

Ours is stiff if its pressured up.
When done, I turn off the pump, then drain the hose before disconnecting.
Reconnect the hose before turning on the pump.

We don't have the pump on or pressure in the system before the hose connection goes into the fitting and is still firm to insert.

When finished, we turn off the pump and drain all pressure beyond the pump and drain the hose.

It's still better than the old faucet type fitting that originally was on the boat to hook up the wash down hose.

Thanks - I guess I'll need to look into putting a switch in the bow locker so I can turn the pump off. (right now it's on the same relay as the bow thruster).

Sorry, I didn't mention the separate on/off switch for the pump as I thought it was normal to have one. Also add an appropriately sized in line fuse for the pump.

Ours is on our salt water wash down circuit, and we also have a power switch for it.

+1 for turning off the pump and draining at least the pressure before disconnecting.

Since the o-rings used are very robust and don't have the usual 'give' of rubber ones, I've found wetting them first before inserting and twisting makes it much easier.

We have been using a couple for almost 20 years 15 of those full time cruising. If the system is pressured up it’s almost impossible to insert the stub into the fitting. So we connect them together before the pump is turned on and turn the pump off and drain the pressure off before disconnecting.

Mine broke a few months ago. It was very hard to insert. I bought a replacement and they had changed the design a bit. The new version is very easy to use. Even the Admiral can do it. Perhaps you can check if you have the latest version.
