Is My 25# CQR Forged?

Trying to discern if one of my CQR anchors is forged. I have one 20 lb cqr that has the "made in Scotland" and Pat # on the shank. 2nd anchor has CQR 25 lb embossed on the plow ,on the shank only has CQR PAT PEND. Is the 25 lb a knock off ?

Do all CQR's that are forged have the full Pat number on one side and the Made in Scotland on the other side of the shank? Wondering in the 25 pounder is an older forged CQR. I'm in the Great lakes and the 25 pounder shows no rust,but some calcium and oxides on it. Have genuine Bruce and a 2 deepset Danforth anchors on board as well.

Simpson-Lawrence made cast and forged CQR anchors. The cast anchors were stamped with weight 1/2 lb less. For example, 24 1/2 is a cast anchor similar in size to the 25 lbs forged. By the way, I've never heard of either a cast or a forged CQR failing.

Lewmar (successor to Simpson-Lawrence) only lists drop-forged construction for the CQR. I was unaware of a cast version of the “genuine” CQR.

The cast version was never very popular, despite the lower price, so they stopped making it

Seen one or 2 actually busted one but many with the knuckle hole and/or pin flogged out.

They will usually drag before they have a chance to bust. But maybe if they're fouled on a cable or rocks...

With the way they are made I would think they have a minuscule failure rate, certianly not enough to worry about and probably a lot less than many others. Nothing like the CQR or Bruce knock offs out of the east for example, they would be many many times higher and something to worry about.

I once bent the shank on a Danforth Deepset while anchored out in a blow with a wind change,the anchor held well, but the shank took a nice twist. I was glad it held and bent instead of dragged.
Was curious if the Pat Pend 25 lb CQR was genuine after realizing most have the Pat # and made in Scotland embossed on the opposite side of the Shank. I think the pat. was granted in 1934 I was wondering if the anchor was maybe much older than it looked or other than a genuine CQR.

Attached the pdf for interest in how it was seen in 1987/89 as an improvement on the plow and the test conditions notes were interesting. They made reference to chain being integral to achieving the results but did not specify wt or length of cable/rhode used.
