I just got off the
phone with the owner of
Mantus Anchors. I asked him to explain to me how to run a trip line with one of his anchors (I have the 85 lb version). Take your trip line and run it through the loop from the opposite side where the
rode attaches. Another way to say this to draw an imaginary line 180 degrees opposite the shank. Run it through from this side. Remember you are going to pull from the opposite side where you pull with the
rode. Attach it to the hole at the
elbow of the shank that is made for attaching it to the
bowsprit. Put a shackle on the end of the line. If your stuck from pulling on rode, put your
boat on the opposite side of the
anchor (180 degrees from where you were) and pull on the trip line. The more trip line you let out the flatter it will be on the bottom. It should free it up from where it is stuck.
I had two trip lines made (60 and 30) with strong shackles on all four ends. Line is made from
Dyneema which is very strong and floats.
Hope this helps. Comments/improvements welcome
