Hi,
I am new to this forum and am hoping that someone maybe able to offer some
advice. I have a 36' 1998 Silverton 360 Express with a Horizon Horizontal
Windlass with the rope/chain combo above.
About 2 years ago I had to replace the
rope due to fraying and fear it would snap during anchorage. I purchased 3 stranded
rope and immediately experieced issues with the rope binding in the
windlass drum and not falling into the locker. After doing some
research I discovered that the manuf recomendation was for the 8strand/chain combo. I purchased/replaced. About this time I had to replace the plastic drum guide as well. As long as chain is out(30 ft of with this combo) I am fine, but the minute rope is set, and I try to retrieve, it binds up on the drum, and wont fall into the locker, which means someone has to hand feed into the locker(kind of defeats the purpose of the windlass). Just curious if anyone has ever experienced an issue and if you could offer any suggestions. My
boating season is over until April, but plan on dealing with the issue at that point in time.
